KNOX-HENDERSON. A charming and romantic two-story restaurant, Adelmo's is an ideal date spot. Italian and Mediterranean cooking dominates the menu, and standouts include veal osso buco, ravioli Florentine and grilled Mediterranean-style salmon. For dessert, opt for the heavenly cappuccino ice cream. The wine list is well-selected and reasonably priced with a good number of choices available by the glass. The wonderfully personable staff is helpful and knowledgeable.

OAK LAWN. From starters to desserts, this upscale icon serves the perfect meal. Salads are exceptional and include tasty offerings like the warm goat cheese version topped with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. From Kobe/Angus filet mignon and Cowboy Cut rib-eye to salmon and swordfish, the generous main courses never fail to please. The interior features dark woods, soft lighting and a domed ceiling that showcases a colorful painting of Renaissance balloons.

NORTH DALLAS. Charming and intimate, this Italian restaurant has the look and feel of a neighborhood eatery, thanks to dim lighting, red tablecloths, and exposed brick walls adorned with various interpretations of the "Mona Lisa." Pleasant servers make patrons feel like long-time regulars and don't mind suggesting time-tested favorites like eggplant parmigiana and linguine with clams. Diners willing to share should consider ordering a wood-fired Neapolitan pizza.

DOWNTOWN DALLAS. Although this revolving restaurant offers outstanding views from its 50th story perch atop Reunion Tower, what truly sets it apart is its knack for delivering outstanding New American dishes. Indeed, it's not uncommon for Southwestern ingredients like epazote, serranos, red chiles, and poblanos to find their way into main course fare.
